As Facebook has become more popular among the 30 to 50-something set, more people have re-connected with long lost loves as a result, a trend the Boston Phoenix has coined “retrosexual.”
“Facebook makes it easier for you to take that first step of finding someone again,” explains Rainer Romero-Canyas, a psychology research scientist at Columbia University. “It has finally provided a way for people to reach out to someone without fear of rejection.”
“It was like opening a time capsule,” says Drew Peterson, a 34-year-old from Long Island, New York, who re-connected with his high school girlfriend a few years ago. (Time)
