An ‘illegal alien’ Halloween costume featuring an orange jumpsuit, space alien mask, and fake passport has generated outrage from groups like The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, who are asking retailers like Target and Amazon.com to stop selling the offending costume that they feel insults the minority group.
“This was an ignorant attempt to poke fun at a small community,” said Jorge-Mario Cabrera, the director of communications for CHIRLA.
Target released a statement on Saturday saying that the $39.99 costume had been inadvertently uploaded to its site and that they had never intended to offend customers. However, others say the costume is just in good fun.
William Gheen, the president of Americans for Legal Immigration, said he plan on buying the costume.
“The only people getting upset are the hyper-sensitive, over-politically correct, pro-amnesty, illegal alien-supporting nuts,” said Gheen. “You can’t attack people’s freedom in this country.” (CNN)
