In an Oprah-like moment, rapper Ludacris made twenty families beyond happy when he teamed up with an Atlanta, GA car dealership to give away 20 free cars last week.
Over four thousand people sent in essays after hearing Ludacris’ announcement on the radio, offering the cars to a lucky 20 people who could pay the taxes, registration, tags and insurance and write 300 words about why they deserved new wheels.
One of the winners, Michael Rivers, wrote in his essay that he had to ride the city bus daily to see his 14-year-old daughter and 17-year-old autistic son to school and that he was often late to job interviews because of bus delays. He was laid off from his job in 2008.
“I don’t care what it is,” Rivers said, as he waited for his new car, surrounded by an excited, dancing crowd.
“I’m grateful for any car with four wheels because it beats two heels.” (CNN)
