Beloved mommy blogger Anissa Mayhew, who has a large following at AimingLow.com and her personal blog freeanissa.com, had a sudden stroke Tuesday afternoon. Her Twitter followers were alerted when her husband posted a quick update on her Facebook page, and word spread like that proverbial wildfire through the Twitter and blogging community.
The 35-year-old mother of three is currently in the ICU and, according to the most recent updates from her husband, posted on AimingLow.com and caringbridge.org/visit/anissamayhew, is unconscious and fairly unresponsive.
Anissa’s virtual community has come together to pray and root for her recovery. It’s a powerful reminder of the true community-building possible with today’s social networking, blogging, and Tweeting – it’s the power of the Internet at it’s very best. Mayhew’s cohorts at AimingLow.com have set up an online form for anyone in the Atlanta area wishing to help support her family, and a P.O. Box for any donations or cards. So far, 290 bloggers have written posts about her and included them in a “link catcher” on the AimingLow website, and the Twitter trending topic #prayersforanissa is filled with tweets from her friends and supporters. To follow her progress, @aiminglow is carrying any official updates.
Our thoughts go out to Anissa and her family during this heartbreaking time. (Aiming Low)
