Betty on the News: Movie Popcorn, Soda Qquals 3 Burgers with 12 Pats of Butter
Popcorn, once thought of as a fairly healthy snack, can do major damage to your waistline and overall health if purchased at a movie theatre, according to a story featured on “Today”.
A series of new tests performed by the non-profit Center for Science in Public Interest reveal that one medium-popcorn-and-soda combo sold at the country’s largest cinema chain (Regal) has 1,610 calories and 60 grams of saturated fat.
This shocking find means your favorite buttery treat is equal to three McDonald’s Quarter Pounders with 12 pats of butter!
Greg Dunn, president and chief operating officer of Regal Entertainment Group, believes it’s up to the customers to monitor their snacking habits.
“Theater popcorn and movie snacks are viewed as a treat and not intended to be part of a regular diet,” he maintained. (MSNBC)
