It seems the controversy over fired Ralph Lauren model Filippa Hamilton’s overly-Photoshopped ad for the fashion house isn’t going away anytime soon. The National Organization for Women added some fuel to the fire this week when its vice-president demanded that Lauren and company apologize further for retouching the already thin model’s figure in the photo.
Erin Matson, who joined NOW after battling anorexia herself, told RadarOnline.com: “When I looked at (the ad), I wanted to burst into tears. What they have done is revolting. It is so harmful to young girls around the world.”
And while Ralph Lauren has apologized for the distorted image in a statement, Matson doesn’t think it’s enough.
“Statements only go so far,” she said. “What I would like to see is an open apology to her and also affirming ads to women of all shapes and sizes and a statement that these women are beautiful.” (RadarOnline)
