Betty on the News: 6-Year-Old Cancer Victim Hid Love Notes for Her Family to Find After She Died
Elena Desserich hoped to comfort her family with pictures and notes.
In the months leading up to her untimely passing, 6-year-old Elena Desserich wrote hundreds of beautiful notes to her parents and sister and hid them in drawers, cupboards and the pages of books.
The lovely child, who was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of five, died in August of 2007. Her family is still discovering “new” notes and hopes to never find the final one.
Elena’s parents have turned the messages into a book titled Notes Left Behind to honor her memory. It also contains diary entries from the Desserichs.
“I think the notes were her way of telling us that everything would be OK,” her mother Brooke disclosed. “It feels like a hug from her every time we find one.” (The Sun)
