Wal-Mart Crowd

After an employee died last year from being trampled to death by a stampeding Black Friday crowd, Wal-Mart has announced that they are taking better precautions for large, post-Thanksgiving crowds this year.

Along with over one hundred $10 toys, the retailer giant, which was required to pay $2 million to improve safety at its 92 stores in the New York area last year as part of a prosecution agreement in the case, plans to manage frenzied crowds by keeping the majority of its stores open on Thanksgiving, in hopes that this will encourage a steady stream of shoppers throughout the holiday weekend and not a mammoth crowd waiting outside the store in the early hours of Friday morning.

Wal-mart shoppers will also not have to sprint towards the electronics section either in order to secure a flat-screen TV or laptop computer, customers can instead line-up at merchandise displays and obtain a coupon which they can then exchange on Friday morning for their must-have shopping item.
