Betty on the News: Wal-Mart to Offer 100 Toys for $10 Each
The discount retailer plans to cater to recession-weary parents this holiday season
Wal-Mart has decided to offer 100 toys for $10 each during the holiday season. The promotion, revealed Wednesday, is intended to appeal to cautious shoppers who are keeping a firm grasp on their finances due to the recession.
In addition to the marking down of their products, Wal-Mart stores plan to match any local competitor’s advertised offer on the same toy, but only if it falls below the $10 mark.
Over the weekend a new 60 Minutes-Vanity Fair Poll revealed that half of the 1,097 Americans who participated considered Wal-Mart to be the institution that best represents the U.S.
Despite the fact that Wal-Mart Chairman Robson Walton says “sales have been tough,” the corporation is still willing to offer up such beloved toys as Monopoly, Battleship, My Little Pony So Soft Newborn and Barbie Cut and Style Rapunzel for a very generous price.
