True Blood: Secrets and Spoilers!
All the dish on the next season of the vampire hit.
Dying for the third season of True Blood to start? Us too! So to satisfy your thirst for news from Bon Temps, BettyConfidential’s giving you the inside scoop on the new characters and storylines to look forward to when the show returns to HBO in the summer.
One very hot werewolf
Yes, there’s a new moon rising over Bon Temps! As in the books, season three will introduce the character of charming werewolf Alcide Herveaux, played by Joe Manganiello, an actor who’s done stints on One Tree Hill, How I Met Your Mother and Medium. Although Alcide will already be involved with a bad news gal named Debbie Pelt, series creator Alan Ball has hinted that Sookie and Alcide might discover that they share a real animal attraction.
But he’s not the only werewolf we’ll meet. Ugly Betty’s Grant Bowler (inset) will be playing Coot, leader of a motorcycle gang.
New love for Lafayette
Though the character of Lafayette barely registers in Charlaine Harris’ books, True Blood has turned the sassy short-order cook (and part-time vampire blood peddler) played by Nelsan Ellis into a fan favorite.
In the new season, expect luscious Lafayette to set his sights on Jesus Velasquez, an attractive Latino hospital orderly who’s caring for Lafayette’s mother (played by Alfre Woodard). “[Lafayette] built a lot of walls around himself,” Ball told EW. “But we will see him get vulnerable next year.” Jesus will be played by Texas-reared actor Kevin Alejandro (inset), best known for his role in the cop show Southland.
