Twilight Ranks High on Challenged Books List
Parents and teachers think the series is too sexual. Say what?
Stephenie Meyer’s beloved Twilight series was ranked number 5 on the annual report of “challenged books” released Wednesday by the American Library Association.
Apparently educators and parents alike believe the series is unsuitable for tweens due to the sexual content (or lack thereof?? Bella doesn’t give it up until the last book) and the supernatural elements.
“Vampire novels have been a target for years and the Twilight books are so immensely popular that a lot of the concerns people have had about vampires are focused on her books,” says Barbara Jones, director of the association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom.
We don’t even know where to begin with this one. Sounds like these people have WAY too much time on their hands! (OK! Magazine)
