Damon is all about Katherine. The tomb below the church is still a major part of the storyline this season. “Damon has an agenda,” says Kevin Williamson. “He’s going to save Katherine. He’s going to do everything he can to get to her.”
Ian loves playing a badass vampire. Calling his role “the most fun I’ve ever had,” Ian says he has things in common with Damon. “I know what it’s like to fight with my brother and I know what it’s like to not have my girl…. To sum it all up, I think he’s doing all of this for love.”
We are going to learn more about Alaric (Legally Blonde’s Matthew Davis). We’ll meet his wife (played by The L Word’s Mia Kirshner) in flashbacks and, says Kevin, “see what his past was like and what brought him to Mystic Falls.”
Vicki is dead. Matt’s sister is gone, says Kevin. “It’s going to take a long time for Jeremy [Steven R. McQueen] and Matt [Zach Roerig] and his family to truly get over Vicki and… start learning the truth about what happened to Vicki [who was played by Kayla Ewell].”
Ian and Paul may fight on-screen, but off-screen… “We’re like brothers,” Ian says. “It’s kind of funny…. The most fun we’ve actually had is [when] we go back to flashbacks, and we actually like each other in the show.” And we can expect to see some changes in the vamp brothers’ relationship in upcoming episodes. “For the first half of the season, it’s been very much about Stefan managing Damon and dealing with Damon, and Stefan is going to go through something that, towards the end of the season, is going to put Damon in a situation where he suddenly has to step up and act like a big brother and take care of Stefan,” says Julie. We can’t wait to see what happens!
