ASK REAL GUYS
Backing Out at the Last Minute
Dear ASK REAL GUYS: My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. I am 26 and he is 32. For three of four months now we have been talking about moving to the same town, or starting a business together, as a way of staying close. My problem is that after we agreed to start a business and move he told me he didn’t want to have a serious relationship; though he says he loves me and doesn’t want to split up.
In my opinion I don’t think it’s about infidelity on his part, it’s about the fact that he is too scared to take on certain responsibilities. What do you think? Why is this happening?
Avery: I think that two people who are involved in BOTH a romantic relationship AND a business relationship are in a complicated situation. It sounds like your romantic relationship is not solid and neither of you knows what direction it’s heading. To add a business relationship on top of that will only complicate things – especially since you live in different cities. My suggestion is that you see where the romantic relationship goes and if it goes well and you feel that you are 100 percent solid, that may be the time to explore embarking on a business relationship too.
