ACM Awards Red Carpet: The Great, the Bad and the Blah
Hollywood, rock, and country stars shared the red carpet and the stage at the American Country Music Awards.
“Drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke…”sang Eric Church during the 46th annual Academy of Country Music Awards held at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton (he’s engaged to Miranda Lambert) were co-hosts and unlike some we won’t name, they had chemistry. The night was smokin’! Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood dueted to Undo It and Walk this Way. Rihanna did a song with Jennifer Nettles, James Taylor sat in … As Ryan Seacrest said, “This has been a great night for American music.”
Miranda Lambert was up for seven awards and won four: Single Record of the Year, Video of the Year and Song of the Year for her song, “The House That Built Me” And Top Female Vocalist of the Year. And, of course, Taylor Swift took home the fan-voted Entertainer of the Year award, gushing, “The fact that this is from the fans makes it so beautiful. Thank you so much to the fans. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ever.” Aww!
Enough of the entertainment news, let’s get on to the good stuff — the clothes! Look over our list of who wore it best, who wore it worst and who was just plain boring on the red carpet.
I know, it’s a shocker! Nicole Kidman only looked this good at the Grammys. Most of her red carpet looks this past year has been awful. She does look amazing in this L’Wren Scott ensemble. If you look closely, you’ll notice she even has an expression on her face!
When Ryan Seacrest announced Taylor Swift won the Entertainer of the Year award, first she hugged her mom, then Reese Witherspoon, Brad Paisley and finally Miranda Lambert before she went onstage. All the while, her yellow Elie Saab Haute Couture gown flowed around her, making her look like a storybook princess. Taylor accessorized her gown with Neil Lane jewels and Ralph Lauren heels.
Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland changed into purple high waisted pants and a black strapless top when she sang California King Bed with Rihanna. The detail work and the back of this black gown really makes it extra special.
Speaking about interesting backs, Julianne Hough rocks this orange backless gown by Randi Rahm. Gorgeous!
Laura Bell Bundy
The gown, the hair, the accessories all say “classic Hollywood.” Laura Bell Bundy pulled it off without looking like she wandered off the set of Mildred Pierce.
During the show, Martina Mcbride sang her new tune, Teenage Daughters. On the red carpet, she didn’t look old enough to have one.
Bethany Hamilton and AnnaSophia Robb
Bethany Hamilton’s life story is the basis for the movie Soul Surfer. AnnaSophie Robb portrays her in the flick. Both look wonderful.
Singer Sara Evans opted for a sequined outfit by BCBG Max Azria and Simon G jewelry. She looked hip and elegant.
Looked like Midas touched Nancy O’Dell. Her golden Grecian gown is a show-stopper.
