Around The World With Only A Carry On: First Stop Prague, No Zurich!
Our intrepid traveler has a few missteps on her way to her European adventure.
Zurich, Munich, Prague and Vienna
I rush out my door with my carry-on bag packed to the gills and a black tote with a few extra things like toiletries, travel documents, etc. As I pull up to JFK airport, I realize I forgot my jacket at home. Yikes, autumn in Europe with no jacket?! Oh well, I decide if I see something cute I will buy it and if not, I will just layer like crazy. My flight is delayed due to the bad weather in New York City. And so it goes. I encounter my very first detour of the trip, I am convinced it’s a sign to put me in my place, right out of the gate.
Okay, so instead of making Prague my first stop of the trip,I quickly shift gears. Now, I will fly into Zurich for a quick visit since there are more direct flights there and it saves me a day of waiting at the airport. A mere hop, skip and jump and I arrive and from what I can tell, it’s a good choice. The city seems very manageable. It’s easy to walk around and window shop, especially on the main shopping street – Bahnhofstrasse.
I have just enough time for one meal here, so I decide on fondue. I follow my nose to a restaurant. It’s packed with locals celebrating. The atmosphere is fun and great for people-watching: one of my favorite activities. The bubbling fondue is delicious and a perfect first meal of the trip. Here I am in Zurich, the visit is short, but fun.
