Pale, dry skin…foundation colors gone awry…and fine lines that are not so fine. Winter isn’t pretty. But Dimitri James, founder of Skinn Cosmetics, offers additional winter beauty tips and techniques designed to make cosmetics work for, not against your skin.

Problem: Color won’t stick to pale, dry winter skin.

Has your favorite blush and bronzer gone south for the winter, just when you needed an infusion of warmth and color the most?

Solution: Exfoliate and soothe.

First, exfoliate away excess dead skin cells that skin produces to protect itself from the cold.

Then, try mixing a drop or two of a natural essential oil like Neroli oil or rose hips oil with your favorite moisturizer before you apply it to your face. The extra oil will super-hydrate the skin and helps offset winter dryness. Your bronzer and blush will adhere better and last longer.

Exfoliation is so important! Especially if you already have dry skin, which i do! I exfoliate once a week and use an at-home microdermabrasion treatment once a week. This really helps my skin through the dry cold winter, especially in combination with a really thick night and day cream!
