L'Occitane Solidairy Soap

L’Occitane never fails to impress. Their latest endeavor, “Savon Solidaire,” is a lovely shea butter soap with a delicate rose petal scent, to which I am now addicted. At $3, it’s totally affordable, and it does not only your body, but your spirit good! A full 100 percent of profits from the sale of this soap will be donated to NGOs working to fight preventable blindness in developing countries by providing high-quality ophthalmological care.

It’s hard to even IMAGINE losing your sight to something that could have been prevented, isn’t it? But according to L’Occitane, over 280 million people in the world are visually impaired, and yet 80 percent of blindness is preventable.

L’Occitane is no stranger to doing good … just recently I attended a great event at their Flatiron location in NYC, where the totally inspiring (and hunky) guys from another great cause that L’Occitane sponsors, WorldRiderZ, were stopping to re-charge.

World RiderZ L'Occitane

Some quick background: Stephane Etienne, a 35-year-old father whose life was shattered when his son Ilhan was born with severe kidney disease. With what L’Occitane describes as “an incredible drive to do something positive,” Stephane set out with his friend, Paul Torriero, on an ambitious bike journey that has so far seen them ride from Sydney to Paris, crossing nine countries and 25,000 km! Along the way, they have visited 11 hospitals, held numerous press conferences and filmed a six-part documentary for the Discovery Channel… you can check out more about them at

They’re now on the second leg of their journey, which will see them crossing France, the UK, Canada and the US on another 15,535-mile trip lasting three months, all the while raising money and awareness about kidney disease. TOTALLY AMAZING!

Anyhoo — I love when a product I love comes from a brand I feel good about supporting. Pick up some Savon Solidaire between now and the holidays (hey, great stocking stuffer!) and know that you’re doing some good in the world every time you wash your hands in luxurious, sweet rose-scented shea butter.
