What Sarah said about Project Runway:
Guest judge Jessica Simpson made a splash with her last-minute arrival. Other celeb attendees included Jordin Sparks and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
Heidi Klum took to the catwalk and said, “I’ve never gotten so emotional and attached as I did this season [season 8]. There is a lot of color and fantasy happening backstage. Enjoy the show.”
My favorite was Valerie, who described her collection as “if David Bowie and Rainbow Brite had a love child.”

What PJ said about Nicholas K and Project Runway:
Free Starbucks! Let me repeat that, there is free Starbucks in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tent! We may have to wait on really long lines to get into a fashion show, we may have to wait 20 minutes or more for the show to start, but we get free coffee. Can I get an amen!
I was extremely excited to see the first show that kicked off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Nicholas K by siblings Christopher and Nicholas Kunz. You know those super-cool kids that look so great slouching down the street? That’s their vibe: romantic, aloof, intense. The palette was a mélange of soft colors – brown, putty and sage green, with pops of white and ivory. Then there was military influence in the jackets and access. Webbed belts, and leather trimmed hats on male and female models. There were a lot of hoodies – even a few in brown leather. I loved a floaty-flowy white dress with teeny-weeny pom-pom trim, worn with a sage/dusty green cropped a-line military-inspired jacket. A lot of the women’s clothing was loose and flowy, which is great, because depending on your body type, you could wear them belted or loose. The music, however was dark and broody. And the models wind-sprinted down the runway.
Project Runway – woah! There was Jordin Sparks, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and the surprise judge Jessica Simpson at the show. Jessica slicked back her blonde hair and wore a silvery sequined dress. Sequins in the morning – oh my! Heidi Klum looked fab in an orangey-red ensemble. She was extra cheerful!
We were treated to 10 different collections. We got to see everyone’s style and collections, but after a while, my butt fell asleep! I think I suffer from ADD. I’d love to talk about the individual collections, but the designers spoke really fast and there weren’t any signs about who they were.
I loved Ivy’s collection – it was full of beautiful pieces in white, bright yellow and ivory. The yellow dress had a tight bodice and very full skirt like something out of the 1950s – it was very sweet.
Another designer had a collection full of bright color – hot pink, bright red, zingy orange with accents of white. It was very architectural, with hard-edged angled pleats and curved hemlines. If Thierry Mugler mated with Paco Rabanne mated and had a love child and then it mated with Flash Gordon, this is what that collection would look like. Very space-age/1960s.
It’s weird being at Lincoln Center. Almost everyone I’ve bumped into mourns the Tents at Bryant Park. It was easy to get to with lots of little restos nearby. We may not have food, but we have free coffee!
