Betty’s Second Day in Vegas!
Day two included a fantastic massage, pop rock sushi, a visit to the strip’s hottest club and more.
Last week I was in Las Vegas for the Summer Journalist Immersion Tour, hosted by VisitLasVegas.com and R&R Partners. I already gave you the rundown of how day one went. But, just like many trips to Las Vegas go, after the first day, the rest becomes kind of a blur. I was having way too much fun to be in my hotel room behind a computer screen, but I’d be happy to fill you in on all the action now.
After mingling with the bunnies at the Playboy Club on the first night, I woke up excited for another full day of Vegas fun. I needed some grub, so I was happy the first stop on the day’s tour was Wazuzu at Encore, a trendy pan-Asian restaurant headed by Chef Jet Tila. In the restaurant’s bright red dining room, there was a large dragon on the wall made out of 90,000 real crystals. It gave me something to admire as I spent all of lunch sampling Wazuzu’s different dishes, like their “drunken” noodles, teriyaki beef bowl, and yellowtail sashimi. We topped off the meal with a delicious shot of Moonstone Coconut Lemongrass Sake, which had yummy notes of coconut and bubblegum. And here I thought sake only came in one flavor!
Finished with lunch, we walked across Encore’s expansive lobby and up to the second floor to have massages at the Wynn Spa. I was booked for an 80-minute Thai deep tissue massage, which includes a series of stretches to relax the muscles. The spa itself was very ornate and felt like a secluded sanctuary – a huge, welcoming Buddha rested at the end of the long hallway as I entered the massage rooms. Devin, my massage therapist, made me feel really comfortable and relaxed. I thought I’d be unnerved by the fact that it was my first time having a male massage therapist (“His hands will be all over me!”), but I actually felt very at ease, and was able to completely sink in to the massage table as my stress floated away.
I came out of my treatment feeling lightheaded yet heavy with relaxation. I took a refreshing shower in the Wynn Spa’s showers, then headed back to the Hard Rock Hotel to get ready for a night out on the town.
