John Cleese’s pricey divorce settlement
Monty Python star John Cleese will have to rethink his spending habits now that his ex-wife, Alyce Faye Eichelberge, is about to take $19.7M out of his bank account.
The former couple’s recent divorce settlement specifies that Eichelberge will be awarded a $3.3M house in London’s Holland Park, $13M in assets and cash, and half of a Santa Barbara beach house, according to the Telegraph.
What’s more, Cleese is required to dole out $987,000 a year for the next seven years.
“What I find so unfair is that if we both died today, her children would get much more than mine,” the comedian, now worth $16.5 million, told the Daily Telegraph. “At least I will know in the future if I go out with a lady they will not be after me for my money.” (New York Daily News)
