Beyonce

Curious about what goes into Beyonce’s fabulous beauty looks? Us too! Luckily for us, Bey’s makeup artist, Wei Lang, recently sat down with The Cut to chat about how she typically does the singer’s makeup for red carpet events (Bey likes to do her day-to-day makeup herself), including her beauty must-haves and the secret to those luscious lashes. Read on for Beyonce’s red carpet makeup breakdown!

Foundation:

Wei says she doesn’t like using a lot of makeup on Beyonce when it comes to foundation. “The one thing I do when she goes out,” she says, “is contour.” The reason? Photography, of course. She tries not to contour too heavily, though. Wei notes, “[Beyonce] has flawless skin, so I don’t really want to cover that up.” Would that we were that lucky, too!

Face shimmer and highlighting:

“I really only use that on her forehead and under her eyes for a little highlighting,” Wei says. “Every now and then, I’ll use a shimmer product.”

Eyes and lashes:

Beyonce’s favorite beauty goodies are eye liners and false lashes. But she doesn’t use just any ol false lashes—according to Wei, “I always use mink lashes on her. They look amazing. I use strips by Velour called ‘Are Those Real?’ and I got her really into it, so she buys them by the ton.” Mink lashes? Chi-chi! Oh, and in case you’re curious about them, they’re currently on sale at velourlashes.com: Normally $59.99, they’re going for $29.99.
