Celebrity Makeup Artist Amy Nadine Tells Us How You Can Look Like a Star
Get your brushes ready: here’s how you can pull off the hottest celeb beauty looks!
Ever covet Lauren Conrad’s peachy glow, Rachel Bilson’s sultry eye makeup, or the perfect little tube of mascara? Celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine, who has worked on everyone from LC to Patrick Dempsey (jealous!) and whose work has appeared in Cosmopolitan, Glamour, and Teen Vogue, told us how to snag the hottest celeb looks and more!
We chatted with her about the must-haves for beauty obsessed ladies on a budget, several of the many famous women she’s worked on, and the miracle product she uses on almost every client. Here’s how you can look red carpet ready in a cinch.
Mascara can make or break a gal’s look. What’s the best way to apply it and which brands have you been using on your celeb clients?
I get so disappointed when I see that someone didn’t take the extra time to really coat her lashes. Get in there and really wiggle the wand horizontally between the lashes, then coat each lash vertically with the tip. Blow dry your hair then apply a second coat of mascara. Then go get dressed and finish with one last coat of mascara. I love CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mascara because it took out a lot of the synthetic ingredients and replaced them with natural ones like beeswax and honey so it feels like a mousse and DOES NOT CLUMP! I also love Ellis Faas mascara because it’s really powerful without being stiff.

Many of us only have the time and cash to spend on beauty tools at the drugstore. Which CoverGirl products have you used on clients?
I use Lash Perfection, Lash Blast and NatureLuxe mascaras all the time because I like to use a new mascara for each job for hygienic reasons (disposable wands don’t work for me because the wands are equally as important as the formulas) and CG are not only affordable, but are such innovators in our field, always being the first to come out with the breakthrough products. I also use Intense Shadow Blasts because they have a built-in primer so once they set, they don’t crease and last all day. And LiquiLine Blast eyeliners are incredible because they blend like a kohl liner but dry like a liquid liner, making them super user friendly. And I love NatureLuxe foundation because it feels lightweight like a tinted moisturizer, but it covers like a foundation.
