Chanel Iman: “Walk With Your Head Held High”
The busy supermodel took a moment to chat with us during Fashion’s Night Out.
Supermodel Chanel Iman began her career at an age when most girls still rocked mom-approved jeans and graphic tees. Since her debut at 13, Chanel has graced the cover of Vogue, Lula, and Italian Elle, strutted her stuff on the runways for the likes of Balenciaga, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, and Stella McCartney, and become a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
We caught up with the stunning model at a majorly decked-out Sunglass Hut on 5th Avenue during New York City’s Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) celebration. Donning head to toe Gucci, Chanel fit in perfectly with the trendy crowd and classy strawberry mocktails and macaroons.
Before she posed for an onslaught of fan photos, Chanel dished about her beauty secrets, fall must-haves, and hot FNO ride.
Betty Confidential: How would you describe your personal style?
Chanel Iman: Feminine –especially when I’m going out– with a hipster edge.
BC: You always look totally confident on the runway. How do you manage to pull that off?
CI: Before I walk in a show, I have to feel confident in what I’m wearing. My mom always told me to walk with my head held high, so I’ve been taking her advice to heart!
BC: You rock the cameras so well. Do you have any tips for us on how to look camera-ready?
CI: It’s all about personality and how you present yourself. You have to feel your best and really own what you wear. If you manage that, it’ll show on the outside.
BC: Can you share a few of your beauty secrets?
CI: I love the natural look. Taking good care of my skin is a must. I always make sure my skin is scrubbed clean of makeup at the end of the night to prevent breakouts.
I think when women are able to pull off a natural, healthy glow –that’s when they look the sexiest to me.
