There have been too many celebrity weddings to count this summer, but Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky’s wedding was definitely the royal one to remember.
Held on Saturday, July 31 at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, NY, 400 guests watched as former President Bill Clinton escorted his daughter, dressed in a gorgeous white silk organza and tulle Vera Wang gown, down the aisle to a large chuppah made of willow branches.
Underneath, Marc Mezvinsky was waiting for his bride, outfitted in Burberry, and joined by Rev. William Shillady and Rabbi James Ponet, as well as about a dozen bridesmaids and a dozen more groomsmen. A friend read aloud the poem “The Life That I Have” by Leo Marks.
Following the ceremony, guests were boarded onto buses and driven to the outdoor reception, also held at Astor Courts. Security was tight, and crashers were denied entry. For the first dance, Bill held back tears as he danced with his daughter to a Frank Sinatra tune. Then, the newlyweds had their own first choreographed dance to Etta James’ “At Last.” Bill and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, wearing a plum Oscar de la Renta gown, also shared a dance.
