Chelsea Handler, Publishing Magnate?
The hysterical host of ‘Chelsea Lately’ has a serious new job.
-Kathryn H. Cusimano
Chelsea Handler isn’t exactly our generation’s William Shakespeare, but her hysterical books have all been bestsellers, so her publisher is taking a big chance on her: she’s getting her own publishing imprint.
The host of Chelsea Lately, whose three books have been published by Grand Central Publishing, will run Borderline Amazing/A Chelsea Handler Book, as part of her company, Borderline Amazing Productions, with Tom Brunelle. Their first print project? Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me, by Handler’s dog Chunk (nepotism at its best!).
“This is a different approach, getting all my friends and family involved, telling them how I’ve screwed them over,” Handler said of the new venture. “I’ll be editing and overseeing, while my family and friends make money off me and get something back from the torture I’ve put them through. I’ve got a couple other ideas and people I want to see write books.”
By “people” she means “people and dogs,” of course. Good luck with the new job, Chelsea! (Deadline)
