Cody Gifford Grows Up
Kathie Lee’s son is a movie critic now!
Get ready for Cody Gifford! The hunky 20-year-old son of Kathie Lee Gifford is doing movie reviews for the portion of The Today Show that’s hosted by his mom.
We just love it when showbiz kids claw their way to the top.
Cody is perhaps the only guy in the U.S. who’s had his diaper doings chronicled by his mother on national television, back when Kathie Lee co-hosted Live with Regis Philbin. (Somehow, we see years of therapy related to this.)
Kathie Lee got her only son into showbiz early; the month after he was born, in March 1990, she brought him onto the Live stage and had a little gold star with his name on the dressing-room door. Some viewers loved Kathie Lee’s obsessive reports, others hated them.
Now Cody, who looks about as clean-cut as Donny Osmond in his early days, is Today’s “resident film student,” doing brief movie reviews every Friday—by talking with his mom. He’s set to continue his appearances throughout the summer, and if a recent segment is any indication , he’s got a long way to go before giving Gene Shalit any competition.
Reviewing Marmaduke, Cody’s main statement was that it was “fun for the kids.” (We’d already figured that out, thanks.) And he called Get Him to the Greek “raunchy,” admitting he’d seen the first half hour with Kathie Lee. “It’s weird, watching sex with you,” he said to his mother.
Er, yes. We understand perfectly. (AOL)
