Date Idea: The Generous Pour Wine Event at The Capital Grille
Tasting nine rare and limited wines for $25? Talk about an unforgettable date night.
I’ve only just finished my first course, a delicious caesar salad, and I’m already on my third glass of wine… oh, and I can’t forget about that first glass of champagne.
I’m not a lush, I’m just in the middle of enjoying The Generous Pour Wine Event at The Capital Grille. From July 12 to September 4, the famously decadent restaurant (with locations nationwide) is offering guests the chance to enjoy a tasting of nine rare and limited wines for $25 per person at dinner. So, on top of your already incredibly romantic dinner of filet mignon and flourless chocolate espresso cake, you and your date can get a little tipsy on the best vintage varietals around.
Not too shabby, right?
The wine selection for this summer has been expertly picked by The Capital Grille’s Master Sommelier, George Miliotes. He knows it will be a treat for any couple, wine lovers or not.
“I believe that wine education must be experienced first-hand,” Miliotes says. “That’s why I’m thrilled to be able to provide a fun, wide-ranging wine exploration at The Capital Grille. We are especially pleased to bring our guests some of the world’s most exclusive wines this summer, for a delightful, educational taste journey.” (For more on how Miliotes selected each wine for the event, check out this video.)
The wine event features different kinds of California and international reds, whites, and of course, a little bubbly. You’re welcome to taste them all, pick and choose, or ask for custom wine flights for comparing and contrasting. Your server will be on hand to discuss the dishes that go best with each wine and what flavor notes to look out for while tasting.
Not only were my date and I impressed with the presentation, but we felt like royals with well over six wine glasses on our table… and more on the way. Fellas, I don’t think I have to tell you how fast your date will fall for you if you take her here, where servers fawn over you and the wine magically appears as if you’re the most important guy in the room. Actually, for an extra $50 for two, you will be.
Now that’s smooth.
