Demi Moore to Tell All—But Mostly About Her Mother
@Mrs.Kutcher is getting $2 million for her memoir.
Demi Moore has signed a $2 million contract with the HarperCollins book publishing company for a memoir, according to several media reports.
Crain’s NY, a business publication, reported that in looking for a deal, Demi met only with publishers who were willing to offer more than $1 million. In a news release announcement its agreement with Demi, HarperCollins called the book a “candid narrative” that would focus on Moore’s mother, Virginia King, and Demi’s three daughters—Rumer, Scout and Tallulah– with Bruce Willis. After that marriage broke up, Moore began dating heartthrob Ashton Kutcher and married him in 2005.
Moore, who was born in Roswell, New Mexico, has a lot to write about if she really wants to tell all about her mother. The superstar, who grew up in a hardscrabble, alcoholic family, had a tumultuous relationship with her late mother, also known as Virginia Guynes.
In the early 1990s, Demi broke off her relationship with her mother after Guynes gave an interview describing her daughter as “cold, haughty and callous.” Guynes also posed naked for the cover of High Society magazine. Demi didn’t reconcile with her mother until three months before Guynes’ death of brain cancer in 1998.
