BC: In terms of beauty, did you notice anything special from Sunday night?
GK: Lots of really glamorous, beautiful hair. My favorite era in hair is the late ‘40s and early ‘50s, like Lauren Bacall and Veronica Lake, and we saw a lot of that. A lot of ‘dos, but they were very soft and flowy. On the makeup front, I didn’t really notice as much. There weren’t really any statements. I didn’t see a lot of bold lips.
It was a lot of really beautiful makeup, which is fine. I think hair is the trickiest thing. You can fix makeup in the car. I mean, if you don’t like what your makeup artist did, you can change it a little bit in the car, but hair… bad hair can really mess up an outfit. And I really didn’t see any bad hair Sunday night. Everyone looked pretty. It was a very safe red carpet and I think it was overall lovely. The women looked very beautiful.
BC: Taylor Swift really showed us her daring side in a dark colored dress. What did you think of it?
GK: I thought it was great! I loved that it had these sheer side panels that went from nude – they were kind of ombre – to plum to match the color of the dress. I thought it was very sleek. Normally, we’re used to seeing Taylor so girly, but it was Donna Karan Atelier and I think it was really pretty. I thought she looked really cool.
BC: What advice do you have for women trying to add a bit of an edge to their wardrobes?
GK: Black and white is such a huge trend for spring; there are some amazing black and white accessories. So, I think if you’re a more conservative gal, you can get some fun, cool black and white bags or black and white shoes, and pair them with a solid color or just pair it with all black. The easiest way to add an edge to any look is though accessories, for sure. And it’s an inexpensive way, too. You can get great shoes at JustFab.com for under $40 – and they’re awesome!
