A couple of people got a tiny bit adventurous with variations on the neutrals. Allison Williams, for example, went for blush instead of white:
And Agyness Deyn chose brown instead of black:
And then there was Lara Stone, who, clad in bright orange, provided the one brief splash of color in an otherwise monochromatic sea of eveningwear (the cut may be a little boring, but so be it):
To be fair, everyone actually looked fine. Myself, I’m particularly fond of Agyness Deyn’s suit and Amy Adams’one-shouldered peplum dress. But does it seem weird to anyone else that almost NO ONE at the ceremony wore colors? Did some evil genius who felt slighted by the film industry swoop in with a strange and mysterious invention that sucked all the color out of the room? Was it aliens? Brainwashing? Some kind of government conspiracy involving a grassy knoll?
I’m aware that New Yorkers tend to wear a lot of neutrals (guilty as charged), so maybe location had something to do with it. I still kind of wish there was a little more variation going on here, though.
But maybe it’s just me. What do you think? Do you wish there was a little more color to see here too? Tell us in the comments!
