Great Gatsby Mansion To Be Torn Down!
The lavish home with a $30 million price tag could not attract a buyer.
The Great Gatsby mansion will be torn down! Tragic! Say it isn’t so! Despite the glamorous history of fabulous parties the lavish Long Island home has, the $30 million dollar home failed to sell, and will now be demolished and turned into five separate lots.
The Gilded Age mansion is said to have inspired F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s famous novel, but the taxes, insurance, and maintenance carry a $4,500 per day pricetag that no one seems to want to take on. “The cost to renovate these things is just so overwhelming that people aren’t interested in it,” says a construction manager. “The value of the property is the land.” (Newser)
