Green Beach Gear
Stocking up on earth-friendly stuff for the beach
-Mary Beth Sammons
It sounds so Posh Spice, but you’ve really got to plan out your little day-at-the-beach parties, as impromptu as they may come. So, as tempting as it may be to bop into the nearest CVS and stock up on plastic beach toys en route to a day of sun, sand and surf, it’s not the most eco-friendly thing to do. The truly save-the-planet-savvy mom will be sporting earth-friendly recycled-plastic milk containers in her beach tote this summer. She has spared no planning by ordering these eco-items online before it’s time to lather on the sunscreen.
The Beach Sand Play Set is nontoxic (just don’t let your kids sip the surf or sand) and contains no lead, and it includes a shovel, a rake, a bucket and a sand-castle mold.
More eco-friendly beach gear:
Luxurious earth-toned Organic Cotton Beach Towels – a little pricey but what’s a little splurge in the name of the environment? ($42 each)
Of course, don’t forget to slather on the organic sunscreen…this water resistant lavender sunscreen from the botanical geniuses at Alba is a lovely smelling skin treat. ($9.95 for 4 oz.)
Stuff everything into on of these super cute recycled market bags and you’re all set for a earth-friendly day on fun in the sun! ($28)
