Perhaps out of self-defense or stubbornness, some people interviewed by the Times insisted they don’t stink. “It’s weird, but I don’t smell,” one man said. “I don’t feel I’m stinkier than the next guy,” another one said. (There was, however, one brutally honest woman: “Who cares if I stink a little?”) But while I-don’t-smell crowd may insist that no one ever tells them they stink, that’s probably because everyone is afraid to bring up such a thorny subject.
So is there any cleaning routine you absolutely have to do every day? Yes, say experts: Wash your hands. Repeatedly. That’s the best protection against all the germs that can be found on everything from door handles to office copying machines.
And don’t think that using less deodorant and shampoo is going to stop the businesses that manufacture them. Sales of dry shampoo have almost doubled since 2007, and the latest entry into the market is a spray designed specifically to take the smell out of your hair.
Well, it’s better than nothing.
