Homeward Bound: The Search for Lindsay Lohan’s Stolen Purse
Lindsay Lohan’s purse went on a little adventure in Hawaii this weekend…
Oh, Lindsay. We know you like to keep an eye on other people’s possessions for them, but when are you going to learn to keep an eye on your own?
You see, our beloved LiLo was on vacation in Hawaii over the weekend—where her purse promptly got stolen. TMZ reported that while Lindsay was at house party for about two hours on Friday night (expressly NOT drinking, it should be noted!), she accidentally left her purse in the car. By the way, it was a $5,000 Chanel purse, and it contained… well, we’ll get to that in a minute. Anyway, when she emerged from party central, her purse was gone. Did she remember to lock her car?
Now, I know what you’re thinking: What the heck is Lindsay Lohan doing in Hawaii? Isn’t she on probation or some such? And the answer is yes, she is on probation, but she’s still allowed to travel as long as she gets permission from her probation officer—which she did. Maybe the officer felt like she deserved a reward for being ahead of schedule on her community service hours for the first time in history. According to TMZ, LiLo wanted to get out of town for a few days in order to prep for the upcoming P.R. insanity that will likely result from the release of her Playboy issue. The issue, by the way, is getting an early release now due to the fact that the spread was leaked all over the Internet last week (and yes, that sounds as dirty as you think it does).
Luckily, Lindsay’s purse made it back to her, though, as you might expect, not with all of its contents intact. Here’s what Lindsay was carrying: her passport and other ID, the probation documents that gave her permission to take the trip… and $10,000. Guess which item was missing when the purse was found? Yep: That big ol’ hunk of cash. Exactly what Lindsay was doing with that much cash in her bag remains to be seen, but it doesn’t seem to have been her main concern. TMZ acquired an audio file of Lindsay flipping out about the vanishing purse, and she’s mostly worried about her missing IDs. No ID means no traveling, and as Lindsay is due back in court for a probation hearing on Wednesday, not being able to make it back to the mainland would have been a very, very bad thing indeed.
But at least it came back safe and sound. Apparently, after a phone call to the police and a lot of frantic driving around, one of LiLo’s friends spotted a shifty-looking local and asked if he knew where the bag was. He denied knowing anything, but then turned up, bag in hand, not too long afterwards, claiming he had found it on the street.
Looks like Lindsay’s going to make her probation meeting after all!
