Get ready to look and feel fresh for spring and summer!

The sun may be out, but my face looks as ravaged as The Walking Dead. Winter did a number on it. My skin is feeling dry and dull. I’d love to walk out of the house in a fabulous spring outfit without hiding behind a pair of huge sunglasses and looking like Katie Holmes on a bad day. Here to give Betty Confidential an exclusive interview is none other than famous make-up artist Amy Nadine. Amy has worked on practically everyone under the Hollywood sun from Milla Jovovich, Lauren Conrad, Patrick Dempsey to Zac Efron and more. Amy’s here to give face-saving tips on how to prep your skin for summer.
BC: Since winter is over, how can you prep your skin so it’ll look fabulous while ditching that damaged skin?
Amy: Exfoliate! If you have strong skin with large pores, you can try microdermabrasion at your facialist’s office or at home with a peel followed by a scrub. I like Proactiv’s pore refining peel since it has 10% glycolic acid, essentially giving you a professional peel at home!
How can you reverse the damage caused by winter on your skin?
The hardest thing to recover from each winter is dryness and for a lot of us, redness, itchiness and even dermatitis. The dry climate can be highly irritating which can cause a vicious cycle because you want to exfoliate the dry skin, but if you’re using something too abrasive, that just makes the area more irritated! My advice would be to use a gentle scrub and keep moisturizing seriously until the skin becomes happier.

Everyone loves spring but what does that mean for my skin?
April showers and no heaters mean less dryness and healthier happier skin!
Fabulous! What should every woman have in her skin care arsenal?
A mild cleanser, a gentle exfoliate, a retinol for nighttime repair, a moisturizer with SPF for daytime and a medicated lotion for acne-prone skin. I also think everyone should do a mask once a week.
