Tip 2: Know His Team
“If his team is the Steelers or the Packers, your chances are going to be slim, especially if he hasn’t missed a game all season,” says Joe L., 27, from Boston. “Your chances are about five percent if he wears face paint or has been to more than two games this year, and in the negatives if he has traveled to home or away games that were more than two hours away.”
“But, if his favorite team is the Bears, the Jets, the Patriots or anyone else, you probably have the best chance. These fans are still so upset that they’re not in the Super Bowl, they’ll most likely have minimal interest in the actual game and will be focusing on others things instead… like girls and getting wasted.”
Tip 3: Don’t Talk About the Hot Players
“The number one rule for me is DO NOT TALK ABOUT HOW THE PLAYERS LOOK,” says Seif-Eldeine O., 24, from Massachusetts. “Seriously, you can be the hottest girl in the world, decked out in the guy’s favorite team’s cheerleading outfit, and if you mention how the players look, you just lost your chance.”
Tip 4: Prepare for the Worst
“At the end of the game, men with rooting interests are either going to be really ready to celebrate or are going to go into football-induced depression,” says Monty M., a 34-year-old from LA who owns the fan site, totalpackers.com. “Take note of who’s pulling for who and either get yourself to the post-game party or be there to offer your condolences. The only thing that made me feel better after the Packers lost the 2007 NFC Championship game was that I met a beautiful woman while I was out drowning my sorrows. That definitely tempered the sting of defeat.”
Besides these tips, all of the guys agreed on one thing: a girl who knows what she’s talking about when it comes to football is HOT. If you know a thing or two, don’t make the mistake of downplaying your knowledge. That being said, don’t start a heated debate in the middle of the fourth quarter, either. Just relax and enjoy the game – you’ll know the right moment to make your move when it comes.
