Infant deaths spur 1.6 million cribs recalled
If you don’t know the brand of crib your baby is sleeping in, go and check now.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commision (CPSC), an 8-month-old suffocated and died when a Delta crib drop side detached. It is reported that another child suffocated as well, prompting a voluntary recall of nearly 1.6 million of the New York-based company’s cribs.
The company is offering free Delta crib repair kits. If you own a Delta crib and are in need of information, the recall hotline is: 800-816-5304. You may also visit the Delta Enterprise recall Web site for more information on how to correct the faulty drop side so you may continue to use your crib. It is advised by the CPSC that you do not use your crib until you have received the replacement kit and corrected the problem.
Delta cribs are manufactured in Taiwan or Indonesia, and the cribs in question were sold from January 1995 through September 2007 at major retail stores, including Kmart, Walmart and Target.
