Irish Farmer Tells Rihanna, “Cover Up!”
Rihanna got in a little bit of trouble with the Irish farmer who allowed her to shoot her new video for “We Found Love” in his field…
And now for your hilarious celebrity news of the day: An Irish farmer allowed Rihanna to film a music video in his grain field on Monday—and then chastised her for not wearing enough clothing while she was doing it. Whoops!
DUP Alderman Alan Graham lives in Bangor, a town in County Down in Northern Ireland. Last week, he got a phone call asking him for permission to use his field to shoot a pop video. He said fine, whatever—but there was just one small thing: He didn’t actually know who Rihanna was. He later told the BBC, “I didn’t know who was coming. If the name ‘Rihanna’ had been mentioned, well, no disrespect but it wouldn’t have meant anything.” So naturally, he wasn’t to know what sort of video was likely to be shot in his field—and it was something of a shock when he found out.
Rihanna and her team arrived and happily started shooting the video for her latest single, “We Found Love,” and for a while, all was well. But then the singer stripped off her top while frolicking through the field. Is anybody else having a hilarious mental image of a little old Irish farmer as he noticed exactly what sort of shenanigans were going on in his field? Because I sure am, and I’m laughing my HEAD off picturing it.
Anyway, once Rihanna started to shed her clothing, Graham stepped in and asked her to stop and cover up. “From my point of view,” he said, “it was my land, and I have an ethos and I felt it was inappropriate.” He also said that he wished “no ill will against Rihanna and her friends,” but that “perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God.” To her credit, she and her crew understood; the alderman said that they parted after shaking hands.
Looks like RiRi is going to have to find another grain field to frolic through!
