If you’re in New York City tomorrow, head on over to Times Square and watch actress KeKe Palmer and author Jess Weiner in action. The two are kicking off a march with hundreds of girls from Girls In and the Girl Scouts starting at the TimesCenter that will culminate in a live event in Times Square. The event part of Dove’s Self-Esteem Weekend campaign, called “Let’s Talk” will have these young women carrying signs that say the phrase and there will be a “Let’s Talk” are in Times Square where young women can do just that.
KeKe Palmer stated in a press release, “”Like most girls there have been times when I have felt insecure about my looks. I am lucky enough to have a mom that I can turn to in these moments. She helps me feel more confident, and I know girls everywhere need and value that kind of encouragement. The Dove Self-Esteem Weekend is all about starting a conversation and helping girls develop a more positive relationship with beauty.”
If you’re not in the city, don’t fret, as the events are happening all across the country. Visit the Dove Self-Esteem website to get listings for them. When you’re there, you can also download their toolkit, see how Wal-Mart’s gotten involved in the cause for women to feel great about themselves, and more.
Remember, never be afraid to talk!
