Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been raising hell onscreen as King Henry VIII on The Tudors, but he’s also been having a rough time when the cameras are turned off. The sexy Irish actor checked into rehab for alcohol abuse.
“He just really wants to get better,” a source told People magazine. “This has been an ongoing battle for him.”
This isn’t Meyers’ first time in rehab. The actor checked into a treatment center for the same reason in April of 2007. His addiction to alcohol has also caused some trouble with the law. He was arrested for public intoxication in Dublin’s airport last November, and he was also detained at Charles De Gaulle airport in France last June – Meyers was allegedly drunk and assaulted an airport employee.
Maybe he’s just a nervous flyer and has a few (okay, too many) drinks before he boards an airplane? Whatever the issue is, we hope Jonathan gets the help he needs. (People)
