Thank goodness Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton — now we finally have a royal fashion icon to drool over! The leggy brunette loves to mix up modestly priced clothing with luxury brands. The future Princess Catherine (as she’ll officially be known once she ties the knot) lives in jeans, short skirts and figure hugging clothing.
Being admired for her style isn’t new for Kate. She’s been on best-dressed fashion lists since 2006, when the UK’s The Daily Telegraph named her “most promising newcomer” to their list of stylish people. Tatler magazine placed her as number 8 of the best dressed of 2007. People added her to their best dressed list in 2006 and in 2010.
Here are some of the looks and trends we love best about Kate Middleton:
1. Hats and fascinators
Kate used to be an accessories buyer for the UK based Jigsaw clothing chain. Maybe that’s why she loves to wear fascinators and whimsical hats. We do, too!
2. Best sellers!
Kate wore a royal blue dress by Issa for the public engagement announcement on November 16, 2010. After the engagement made the news, copies were made of the dress and sold out immediately all over the world.
For their official portrait, Kate wore a dress from Reiss. Like her engagement dress, the ladies, they snatched it up! Reiss will reissue the dress in January for $325 for the rest of us.
In March, Kate and Prince William toured Belfast, where Kate participated in a pancake flipping event. Her $995 Burberry coat sold out online the next day. So did its lower priced look-alike from Asda.
3. Jean queen
Whether she’s watching Prince William play sports (he plays a lot of them!), running errands or spending time with friends, Kate lives in straight legged jeans and boots.
