Kristen Stewart Goes Into the Woods in New ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Art
Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron go into the woods in this newly-released banner for ‘Snow White and the Huntsman.’
And the Snow White face-off continues: The Snow White movie directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, and Armie Hammer finally got a title—Mirror Mirror—but to counter that bit of news, the Kristen Stewart vehicle Snow White and Huntsman just released some snazzy new art. Take a look here:
Pretty neat, right? I may be kind of skeptical about KStew, but Snow White and the Huntsman, which is being directed by newcomer Rupert Sanders, looks like it’s going to be gritty and awesome. It looks like the world has finally caught on to the fact that damsels in distress have had their day; now is the time for warrior princesses who are more than capable of rescuing themselves.
Having trouble seeing all the awesome detail in the banner above? Let’s break it down a little.
First, there’s Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, who trains Snow White in the art of war instead of killing her:
Then there’s Kristen as Snow White, dagger in hand:
And finally there’s Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, with her winged minions flocking around her:
The woods in the Huntsman section of the banner look like they’re alive, which is pretty neat; and even better, the Evil Queen’s section seems to depict some sort of gigantic battle happening at the foot of the castle. In some ways, the art is reminiscent of Tim Burton’s riff on Alice in Wonderland—Mia Wasikowska as an armor-wearing, blade-wielding Alice going up against the Jabberwocky and the Red Queen has not a little bit in common with Kristen Stewart’s Snow White. Meek little flowers, they are not!
Snow White and the Huntsman also stars Sam Claflin, Noah Huntley, Nick Frost, Ray Winstone, and Ian McShane. It will open on June 1, 2012.
