Lady Gaga Gets Simpsonized!
Gaga + Homer + flame-shooting train. Most awesome moment in television history?
It’s true: Lady Gaga is set to appear as herself on an episode of The Simpsons. The “Born This Way” singer and all-round superstar went into the studio to record her lines this past Monday, though she admitted to Entertainment Weekly that the experience was “a little nerve-wracking.” Although singing is as easy to her as breathing, she found doing a voice-over to be venturing into new territory. To focus herself, she reports that she geared herself less towards “putting on a character” and more towards “being as sincere as I could.”
“Their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny,” she says, “I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor.”
The episode, titled “Lisa Goes Gaga,” will feature Lady Gaga, described by the writers as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world, arriving in Springfield to cheer a depressed Lisa up. Will she succeed? Survey says no, but that’s not going to stop her from trying; apparently there will be songs, dancing, wardrobe changes, and—wait for it—a Gaga Express train powered by a giant flame-shooting bustier. This quite possibly might be the greatest moment in television history.
In spite of the nerves, “I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” says Gaga. “My dad’s probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out.”
Although the episode won’t air until 2012, we’re already looking forward to seeing what Gaga will look like in animated form. In the meantime, though, you can get your Gaga fix by tuning into the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday—she’ll be hosting, so get ready for one crazy ride!
