Makeover Time! Summer Beauty with Carmindy
What Not to Wear’s Makeup Guru shows us how to look chic in the heat.
We all know how hard it is to stay looking good when the temps hover in the 90s. Your hair grows exponentially. Your clothes melt. Your makeup manages to disappear in a flash. And hey, when it comes to makeup, you want to have a healthy glow, not a sweaty shiny face, right? Right. So I was thrilled when I was offered the opportunity to get a summer makeup makeover (say that three times fast, I dare you) by the one and only Carmindy.
The day dawned bright and sunny (read hideously hot and bright). I had gotten up at 0-dark:thirty because I was taping an interview for NBC’s Sunday Today show. I slapped on makeup, tortured my hair with a flat iron and left the house. After the taping on the west side of the city, I had the bright idea to walk cross-town in heels. I’m always hoping my thighs will get tired and leave. They never do. You can see from the below before photo that my makeup had slid down my face and entered another dimension.
After cleaning off with exfoliating citrus and cucumber scented Pond’s Morning Refresh Towelettes ($5.12, drugstore.com) and then putting moisturizer on my face, Carmindy got to work.
First she fixed my eyebrows. I’ve been leaving them alone in hopes that they’d grow. I’d over-plucked and they were very sad. Carmindy made them gorgeous! Carmindy proceeded to give me a natural summery look with pale coral lips (taste like a creamsicle) and emphasized my eyes. She used her own line of cosmetics, Sally Hansen Natural Beauty. The colors will work with every skin tone. All the products are paraben-free. They contain sweet almond oil, aloe extract, avocado oil, grapefruit extract, Ginkgo Biloba extract, bamboo powder and other natural ingredients.
