Marty McFly’s Self-Lacing Back to the Future Shoes Exist!
You guys! Nike has made Marty McFly’s self-lacing shoes from Back to the Future Part II a reality!
Remember Back to the Future Part II? Remember how when Marty arrives in 2015, he ends up having to dress as his future son in order to right the terrible wrongs the time stream has undergone? Most importantly, remember the fact that his shoes lace themselves?
Well, guess what? Nike has finally, actually made those shoes. You heard me: THE SHOES OF THE FUTURE EXIST.
According to TMZ, Nike will be releasing just 1,500 pairs of the Nike Air Mag, which they will auction on eBay. All proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fund research on Parkinson’s Disease.
The Air Mags have an LED panel, and they’re rechargeable; the only catch is that you’ll have to recharge them roughly every 5 hours or so. That might be kind of obnoxious, but hey, it’s a small price to pay for shoes that every child of the ‘80s grew up coveting. Check out this awesome promo video:
A closet full of Nike Air Mags is a beautiful thing. Now if only someone would get moving on inventing Marty’s hoverboard…
P.S. You know what I just realized? 2015 is only four years away. Does that freak anyone else out?
