MBFW Backstage Beauty: Deborah Lippmann’s Berry Nails at Richard Chai’s Show
Deborah Lippmann debuted a gorgeous new nail lacquer shade, Harem Silks from Bombay, at Richard Chai’s New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show. Here’s how to get the look!
If you’re like us, you’re constantly on the lookout for new and exciting nail polish shades. No matter how big our lacquer collections grow, we just can’t seem to get enough! Luckily, we spotted an exotic new shade at the Richard Chai show during New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week last week: Harem Silks from Bombay by Deborah Lippmann. A beautiful boysenberry hue, it perfectly complimented the dark, dramatic eyes and sleek ponytails sported by models on the runway. Look closely at the right hand side of the color wheel above and you might be able to spot it. Love!
Alas, its appearance at the show was just a preview; Harem Silks from Bombay isn’t due to come out until the 2013 holiday season. But pssst—we’ve got a secret for you! Here’s how to get the look now, without having to wait until the end of the year for the color’s official debut:
1. Start with a coat of Dark Side of the Moon ($17, beauty.com), a gorgeous, creamy aubergine color.
2. Layer on a coat of Wicked Game ($17, beauty.com), an iridescent lavender grey shade.
3. Finish off with a coat of Flat Top Matte-Maker top coat ($20, beauty.com).
Ta-da! Rich, berry-colored nails with a whole lot of depth. Pro tip: For a similar look with a deep, dark red base instead of purple, try replacing Dark Side of the Moon with Through the Fire ($19, beauty.com), a shade also seen at the Heart Truth Red Dress Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show.
Tell us: What’s your favorite nail polish shade?
