Mean Betty: Ahh, True Love… Between a 51-Year-Old and a 16-Year-Old
Anyone else creeped out by Doug Hutchinson marrying Courtney Alexis Stodden, who’s 16? Anyone?
My pets, when Mean Betty was just a wee girl of 16–before she was permanently jaded by the ridiculous world of Hollywood–Meanie’s biggest concerns were getting her driver’s license and hooking up with the captain of the football team on the hood of his car one more time before graduation.
Ahh, those were the days…
Marriage was not even on Mean Betty’s radar back then, as it shouldn’t be for any 16-year-old. Because it’s illegal in most states.
Unless, of course, you’re aspiring country singer Courtney Alexis Stodden, who will apparently do anything for fame… including marrying a has-been actor who’s 35 years her senior and getting mommy’s legal consent to do so.
Yes, my dear poppets, Ms. Stodden married Doug Hutchinson, 51, (a relatively unknown actor who’s appeared in The Green Mile, Lost, and The X-Files) last month in — wait for it — Las Vegas. But, of course!
Surely this marriage has true love written all over it, right kittens? It doesn’t scream of “I’m taking advantage of you to get into the spotlight” at all.
But in case that isn’t clear, the disturbing happy couple released the following statement through their rep: “We’re aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial, but we’re very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless.”
Ah, the good ol’ “ageless” claim — what a compelling argument. Doesn’t that just completely dissolve the ICK factor of this peculiarly legal union?
All Mean Betty can do at this point is wish these two newlyweds the best… and really, REALLY hope that Courtney is not the type that likes to use the word “daddy” in bed!
P.S. Meanie apologizes if that last image made you throw up in your mouth just a little bit.
