Met Ball Red Carpet Style: The Good, the Bad and the Boring
Celebrities, including pregnant mamas like Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba, came out to salute the Metropolitan Museum’s “Alexander McQueen – Savage Beauty” Costume Institute Gala.
The annual Met Gala, chaired and overseen by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, is a must for every celebrity. The red carpet is the place to see and be seen. This year, blush, nude and gold vied for attention with scarlet, black and red gowns. Many stars wore Alexander McQueen. Dakota Fanning looked like a fairy princess and Beyonce’s bod was made for the sexiest gown around.
Let’s take a look at the good, the painful and the most boringly dressed of the night….
Showing off their respective baby bumps, Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba are incandescent.
Twilight star Ashley Greene looks ethereal in this silvery beaded gown by Donna Karan.
She’s definitely an Idol. Jennifer Lopez is breathtaking in this fucshia Gucci gown and jewels from H. Stern.
A Philip Treacy hat, a Prabal Gurung gown, and a half a million dollars in Cartier jewels. Demi Moore looks every inch a star.
Dakota Fanning not only looks age-appropriate in this Valentino gown, she looks other-worldly.
Evan Rachel Wood
She was the only woman to wear this autumnal color. Nevertheless, Evan Rachel Wood looks as regal as the vampire queen she portrays in True Blood in this Gucci Première gown with hematite beading.
At first glance, this gown looks like a McQueen creation, but it’s actually Pucci. Either way, Beyonce looks stunning.
In a J. Mendel gown, Taylor Swift looks amazing on the red carpet. She always looks fantastic on any red carpet. Sigh.
Petite beauty, Salma Hayek proves you don’t have to be tall to carry off a McQueen gown.
Ombre looks spectacular on porcelain-skinned glamazon, Christina Hendricks.
