Models Sat In Trees at Erin by Erin Fetherston’s Fashion Show: MBFW Fall 2012
We entered a fairy tale! Erin by Erin Fetherston’s Fall 2012 line was edgy and romantic.
Droves of fashionistas including Sarah Sophie Flicker, Bryan Boy, and Joey Maalouf arrived at MILK Studios for the presentation of Erin by Erin Fetherston’s Fall 2012 collection. For those of you who aren’t sure what the difference between a presentation and a runway show is, let me break it down. Runway is fairly standard for fashions shows: models strut down a long catwalk, stop and pose for photos at the end of it, strut back, while another model has started her strutting. Presentations feature a large room that groups of people enter and walk around. A group of models will be in that room either standing or sitting in a group, wearing the latest fashions from the designer’s collections. You can walk right up to them and snap a photo without worrying about any blur—think of them as living, breathing mannequins.
For Erin’s collection, the models were arranged to be sit in a golden, enchanted forest with some perched atop golden tree trunks. “I was definitely inspired by images from nature and really wanted to create something romantic and ethereal this season that would have an edge and feel really modern.” Erin said.
While harpist Ashley Jackson (dressed in one of Erin’s gowns) played serene melodies in the background, the models sparkled in sequins and stone embellished dresses in colors ranging from jade to amethyst, much deeper and more energetic that Fetherston’s signature palette of pastels.
“We have some abstract feather prints, some very vibrant floral prints, and electric textures with metalized chiffons. It’s a fun balance of really fluid fabrics and more structured fabrics.” Erin said.
“It feels like a new age fairytale to me.” Can we all please live inside of Erin’s magical fairytale world? Any takers?
