My Delight Cosmetics: the Beauty Brand That Believes All Women Are Beautiful
My Delight Cosmetics’ models look a lot like the gals we see every day– because they are!
Ladies, have you ever admired an airbrushed model’s flawlessly rosy cheeks and smoky eyelids only to feel dejected every time your gloss smeared all over your coffee mug? Don’t worry: we’re just as guilty of spending an extra half hour in front of the mirror trying to get the perfect clump free lashes (it never works).
But the truth is, no matter how hard we all try, nobody is perfect. Not even the models covering the ads in your favorite glossies look picture perfect without a little tool called Photoshop!
But now, My Delight Cosmetics, a new brand on the cosmetics scene, is stepping up to all that airbrushing by only using real women on its website. That’s right: if you head over to the company’s page, you’ll find gals of every age, ethnicity, and size rocking My Delight Cosmetics’ glosses and shadows.
“One of our biggest aims is to just use the faces of real women,” Kim Jones, the product development manager for My Delight Cosmetics, told us. “That alone makes a huge statement. Many beauty and media companies are afraid to use real women because it messes with their message of aspirational beauty. You know, ‘buy this product and look like Salma Hayek.’ They think that if they get women to aspire to images that are anything but their own, that will help them sell products. By having the guts to show regular women on our site and in all of our ads, we hope that more companies will follow.”
And as part of the brand’s commitment to natural beauty, it will run a “Real Women, Real Beauty” model search through December 31, 2011 that is open to all women out there –no experience required.
Not only does the brand hire ladies like us for its ads, it has also made an enormous effort to use only the best resources for our skin’s health. You won’t find any impossible-to-pronounce ingredients here: only natural, vegan materials are used in the making of these products.
“The My Delight Cosmetics concept was developed when the company owner experienced allergic reactions to chemicals found in several of her over-the-counter makeup products,” Jones explained. “To avoid future allergic reactions, she began to search for natural cosmetics options. She found a few here and there, but some had strange ingredients or weren’t vegan. She figured that she was among a growing population of women in search of natural vegan cosmetics, so she decided to satisfy the need by launching her own brand.”
But don’t think an extra swipe of mascara and blush will make you gorgeous –just look in the mirror, girl: you’re already stunning!
“We offer our products as enhancements to a woman’s natural beauty, not as cover ups,” Jones said. “Until recently, I didn’t know that it was a radical statement to say that all women actually possess their own natural beauty. I sincerely believe that.”
Though My Delight Cosmetics already offers a host of beauty bag essentials, it plans to expand the line to include lip products for teenage girls and new gloss shades next year.
